The origins of Stephanie Ortega
Hi my name is Stephanie Ortega, I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I am a Mexican-Guatemalan artist. Growing up there has always been the question of what you will become when you are an adult. I don’t know about your culture but for me art was never really a real functional job but I’ve always had a passion for art and continued to go towards it like the little black sheep I am.
The first in my family to graduate completely from college, which I am extremely proud of. I graduated from Cal State Northridge with a BA in arts with a focus in Illustration and painting. I worked really hard to find scholarships because I was determined not to feel like community college was my only option. I wanted to go straight through.
Still to this day I struggle with the idea of not being able to make a proper living as an artist. One year I am a part-time artist, the other year it’s just a hobby. Picking up part time jobs that still allow me to be creative. Always fighting with myself and imposter syndrome, BUT I keep fighting. Con fuerza. Enough about me! Enjoy my site.
